La Plaine des Cafres is a village located in the highlands of Réunion on a plateau wedged between the Piton des Neiges and Piton de la Fournaise massifs.
This plateau is separated from that of La Plaine des Palmistes by the Col de Bellevue, which reaches an altitude of 1,606 metres.
La Plaine-des-Palmistes, a 20-minute drive from Saint-Benoît, is a haven of peace in the east of Réunion. The town is located on the island’s only cross-island road, which connects north to south when the Route du Littoral is closed. Taking this winding road is a change of scenery in itself as you climb higher and higher.
